Medications at Camp
- Bunk staff are required to keep all oral medication, supplements and vitamins in an assigned locker in the health center which is accessible 24 hour/day. Each locker will have its own lock and key for which the staff member is responsible. Staff are expected to return at the key at the end of the summer or when the locker is no longer needed. There is a lost key charge of $10, paid to the Director of Finance, Bruce Lipton.
- There will be no pills (medications, supplements or vitamins) kept in camper bunks with the following exceptions: one (1) dose of migraine rescue medication and five (5) doses of Lactaid.
- Rescue inhalers, diabetic testing & care supplies, and injectable epinephrine for life threatening allergies are permitted to be kept in a safe, secure place in the bunk.
- Maintenance inhalers, eye drops, topical creams & nasal sprays are permitted to be kept in the bunk.
- Staff will be expected to have their own supply of over the counter items that they use routinely, such as ibuprofen, Tylenol, Sudafed, and Tums. Bunk staff must keep these items in their locker. Non-bunk staff must keep medications in a secure place in their room.
- Staff members must bring enough of their prescribed medications for the summer or arrange to have their prescriptions filled and sent to them or have their prescriptions filled and picked up at a pharmacy in Honesdale, PA.
- It is the responsibility of the staff member to take their medications with them for out of camp trips.
- Designated camp staff will pick up prescriptions for other staff members, as needed and the health center phone is available to call local pharmacies or a health care provider, as needed.
- Camp doctors will write prescriptions for staff at their discretion.
